Explore – Academic Orientation Program for Refugees at UZH

key visual

90 refugees with the potential for pursuing higher education took part in the pilot project 'START! Study - University Integration Program at UZH'. This gave them important insights into teaching at UZH and expanded their language and subject-related skills. The internal evaluation revealed a great demand for German courses with an academic focus, an insight into everyday university life, as well as information and advice on studying in Switzerland. Based on these findings, START! Studium will be replaced by 'Explore – Academic Orientation Program for Refugees at UZH' in summer 2024.

Explore is a semi-intensive program and is aimed at qualified refugees who want to improve their German language skills at an academic level and get to know the content and requirements of university studies in Switzerland. Explore participants attend German courses, academic modules and various information events on study-related topics at the University of Zurich over the course of a year. The offer will be listed in the IAZH catalogue and can be financed via the integration lump sum. The application window will open in May 2024. Information on the new program will be continuously updated on this website.
