“Blended Intensive Programs (BIP)” is a format that enables students and staff to gain international experience through a cooperative teaching and learning exchange. Each BIP is jointly organized by several universities and combines a short physical mobility with a mandatory virtual component. The duration of the physical mobility is a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 30 days.
BIPs have existed in Erasmus+ since 2021. From June 2025, BIPs will be funded under the Swiss-European Mobility Program (SEMP), the Swiss solution for Erasmus+.
Within the framework of SEMP, UZH students participating in a BIP at a European partner university can apply for a grant to cover travel and accommodation costs for physical mobility.
The grants amount to CHF 80 (day 1 - 14) and CHF 60 (day 15 - 30) per activity day. An additional CHF 100 flat rate will be paid for environmentally friendly travel. Travel receipts must be submitted for this purpose. In addition, Global Student Experience (GSE) promotes the use of environmentally friendly means of transportation with an additional eco-friendly travel grant if this requires travel lasting several days.
The following conditions must be met in order to apply for the grant:
Unfortunately, applications for BIP programs in which UZH is not actively involved or are not offered by a university of the UNA Europa alliance cannot currently be funded with a SEMP grant. You are welcome to check our Finances and Scholarships webpage to see if there is alternative funding available for your short mobility.
All applications for funding must be submitted by participants on Mobility Online at least 60 days before the start of the physical part.
In general, the organizer of the BIP sends the list of participating students to Global Student Experience (GSE) no later than three months before the start of the physical mobility. After that, BIP participants will receive the registration link and detailed information on the application process and documents from GSE by e-mail.
If you have already registered for the BIP on Mobility Online, please use the following link to complete your application, view or upload the required final documents after the BIP:

A prerequisite for a BIP is the opportunity to earn at least 3 ECTS credits. It is therefore essential that you clarify with the person responsible at your Faculty for credit transfer before your departure whether the BIP can be credited to your studies at UZH.
